Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is coming on December 15th, and to mark the film's release a Japanese company is set to release two custom smartphone devices.
The smartphones will be simply called Dark Side Edition and Light Side Edition and will be available in two colors, black and white, respectively. So customers will be able to choose their Force allegiance when they pick up the black or white smartphone.
Unfortunately, the chances of these phones being released outside of Japan are slim. But just for their sake, let's take a look at what they have to offer in terms of specs.
First of all, let's mention that the phones will be manufactured by Sharp, so they will offer the same hardware and software configuration. The only difference between the Dark Side and Light Side Edition is the color.
Both devices come with 5.3-inch IGZO displays that support full HD (1080p) resolution, as well as a TV tuner, a feature that is almost a must-have in Japan, where customers watch TV shows on their phones.
The smartphones are equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 CPUs, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card). The smartphone also features a 22.6-megapixel camera, along with a 3,000 mAh battery.
The Star Wars-themed phones will come with live wallpapers on the inside, which will look like an X-Wing or TIE fighter cockpit (Star Wars fans know what that is). It will also have Android 6.0 Marshmallow slightly customized with dark and light themes.
Some other apps have been modified with Star Wars themes, such as the alarm clock, emoticons and ringtones. According to SoftBank, the two devices will be available on the market from December 2, but their pre-order is already available.
