Problems with Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 810. Sony is reportedly preparing to release a software update to fix the overheating issue that appeared on the new Xperia Z3+.
Last month, Sony announced the new Xperia Z3+ as a minor update to its flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z3. However, it seems that the Z3+'s upgraded chipset is causing the device to overheat, just like other devices using the Snapdragon 810.
Of course we are not only talking about devices from Sony but also from other mobile device manufacturers that use the Qualcomm processor.
Sony has confirmed the overheating issue which was detected in tests conducted by Dutch website, Gsminfo.
During one of the tests using the camera, the app stopped working and started crashing within a few minutes of recording video with noticeable warmth on the back of the device.
Since last year we have heard that Snapdragon 810 chips are prone to overheating and Qualcomm is expected to release an update to address the issue.
However, devices already in circulation should fix the problem with updated software versions that can manage the chipset's operation.
Sony will be among the companies that will soon release such a software update for the device that uses this particular chip to prevent overheating.
Users planning to buy the device when it becomes available later this month will probably be disappointed by today's news.
