Organizing your email can be a tedious and time-consuming process, but it's often necessary to make sure you don't miss out on the emails you need to see. Instead of searching through newsletters, junk mail, and more, there are two ways to improve your email inbox.

Alto
The new Alto is probably one of the easiest and most modern ways to make sure you never miss an email. It's available as an iOS and Android app, as well as accessible via a web interface in any browser. Alto also automatically organizes emails into groups called Stacks.
Alto is a bit like Gmail 's tabbed view . Specifically, while Gmail divides your emails into four handy columns—Primary, Social, Promotions, and Updates—Alto takes it a step further. Alto's Stacks include grouping messages based on files, photos, shopping, travel, finance, and more.
Additionally, you can create additional Stacks, much like you would with any email provider's filters. Criteria for creating Stacks include sender, recipient, and keywords. You can also choose to include messages with photos, files, or plain messages.
Filters, Labels and Whitelist
If, of course, you prefer not to give Alto access to your email account or you believe that its automated system does not meet your specifications, you can take the longer and much more tedious route of creating filters that will organize all your messages into folders or, in the case of Gmail, into labels.

If you've signed up for a lot of newsletters or mailing lists, this is going to be an extremely time-consuming process. Filters are a standard feature in almost every email provider including Gmail, Outlook, and Yahoo.
Filters can be created based on sender, recipient, keywords in the subject or body text, and the inclusion of attachments. When creating filters, you can automatically move certain messages to specific folders. If there are specific senders, keywords, or attachments that you don't want to miss, you can choose to automatically flag those messages so you know where to go to find your most important emails .
In addition to creating filters, you can also whitelist certain senders or even lists to make sure their emails don't end up in your junk folder.
