Snapchat is one of the most popular video sharing apps. The company just announced that it will change its name to Snap Inc and that it will launch a new product.
The new glasses will be called Spectacles and resemble Google Glass as they come with an integrated camera and have video recording capability. The glasses will be released in the US in December and will cost about $130.
The glasses will be able to record 10‑second clips and send them to smartphones via Bluetooth or Wi‑Fi.
The camera features a wider lens than those used in smartphones, with a broad 115‑degree field of view. It will be able to record circular videos that will later be stored within the Snapchat app for viewing and sharing.
The Spectacles will also include an indicator LED that lets others know recording is in progress.
The videos can be played in a loop in the app and when displayed in full screen, they will occupy the entire screen and the video will remain steady, regardless of how you hold the phone.
The battery is said to be able to last for a full day of video recording. Glasses will come with a case that can be used to charge them.
