Kickass Torrents, one of the largest torrent websites in the world, announced that it has acquired a .onion URL, meaning the site also operates on the Dark Web, as a backup for the main service.
Although it does not follow the turbulent path of the Pirate Bay, which to this day continues to constantly change domains, the administrators of the page thought of ensuring their presence on the web.
The Pirate Bay already has an onion address (uj3wazyk5u4hnvtk.onion) and so Kickass Torrents followed with its own: lsuzvpko6w6hzpnn.onion.
For those who don't know, .onion links can only be accessed through the Tor browser. Tor websites exist on the Tor "secure and anonymous network.".
The classic Kickass Torrents URL will still work, even if you access it through the Tor browser.
The .onion URL is more of a backup domain in case the regular URLs are lost, either due to the loss of a domain, a copyright lawsuit, or a failure of the regular server. Administrators don't expect crazy traffic on the .onion URL.
