The free Microsoft Account app for Android improves the two-factor verification process when signing in to Microsoft accounts.
When you sign in to your Microsoft account on a device, you may be asked to verify the account after signing in with the correct username and password.
This happens automatically on all new devices, but it can also happen on devices you use frequently.
The options provided by the company for identity verification are confirmation via an email address or phone number for SMS.
The process is not very convenient, as you will have to use different programs to retrieve the code and use it where requested.
Additionally, you must always enter (part or all) of your email address before the code will be sent to you using the selected method.
The Microsoft Account app for Android devices is coming to make the whole process easier. The app is designed to improve the two-step verification process by requiring only one tap when checking in.
Before using the app, enter your username and password, select one of the available two-factor authentication options, and enter the code when you receive it. You're good to go.
Now if you encounter a Microsoft account again, simply open the app on your device and tap the button to approve identity verification.
It should be noted that the Microsoft Account app for Android does not support notifications from Microsoft, and thus there is no history of previous identification attempts.
You can add as many accounts as you want to the app to have security codes that you can use in the second verification step.
