After a new round of tests conducted by the German institute AV-TEST, we announce the best antiviruses for home users with Windows 10 devices in 2016.
It turns out that only one security solution was able to successfully pass all AV-TEST tests by collecting the maximum number of points: Bitdefender Internet Security 2016 is the winner of the year.
Bitdefender's security suite managed to get 6 points in all tests, namely protection, performance and usability, managing to score better than its rivals Kaspersky or Norton.
Kaspersky, Trend Micro, and Symantec's security software were very close with near-perfect performance, but most of them lost almost 0.5 points in various tests; Kaspersky Internet Security 2016, for example, scored 5.5 points in performance tests.
But for many users the most important results are those of free security software.
Avast Free Antivirus 2016 got 6 out of 6 points for protection and usability, but only 4.5 points for performance.
AVG Internet Security managed to collect 5.5 points for protection, 5 points for performance, and 6 for usability.
Windows Defender now received 3 points for protection, 5 points for performance, and 5.5 for usability. This results in an overall score of 13.5 points with a maximum score of 18.
