Bing Insider program: Microsoft is currently pretty much the only company that has a major search engine that can stand next to Google, as the company has invested billions of dollars to make Bing a competitor to Google Search.
The efforts are paying off, as Bing has reached 20 percent of the market share in the United States, and is finally becoming an alternative to Google Search, but 20% is not enough.
Microsoft, having bigger ambitions, launched the Bing Insider program, aiming to get input from users about new features they would like to see in Bing and to improve the search engine together.
This is not the first time Microsoft has used such a program in its products. It started with Windows 10 and the effort began in October 2014.
The purpose of these programs is to help Microsoft get feedback and suggestions on features and ideas for improving its portfolio of services and products, while providing those who participate with access to early features that are not available to retail customers.
In Bing's case, however, the program only offers limited spots and not everyone can join. Microsoft has a survey page for interested users, and in the end, the company will select those it wishes to participate in this new effort.
“Thank you for your interest in the Bing Insiders Program! Bing Insiders will be a passionate community of Bing users who want to know, and will have early access to the newest features. Their feedback can help us make Bing awesome. Interested in participating? Complete this short (3 question) survey, and we’ll contact you if you’re a good fit,” the survey page states.
