Microsoft is preparing to release a new logo for its Bing search engine, trying to demonstrate its commitment to the service, especially after the impressive growth it has recorded in the last 12 months.
Bing has gone from being a simple search engine to a standalone platform in its own right, powering technologies like Cortana and Siri.
At the same time, it is the default search engine of Windows 10, and serves as the underlying technology for other web-based services, such as AOL.
The new Bing logo will be released about two and a half years after the last one was released (in September 2013), when Microsoft upgraded the search engine to bring it closer to the look of its other revamped products.
The Bing search engine has recently (2015) become quite a profitable business, as third-party statistics show that it currently powers more than 20% of searches in the United States.
In fact, last quarter, the search business generated over $1 billion in revenue for Microsoft.
So it's easy to understand why the company wants to focus on improving service.
