A report is talking about a possible acquisition of PayPal by Google and its integration into Android Pay. If the integration does not happen, the report states that Android Pay may be discontinued.
This, according to a Wired report , could be a powerful weapon for Google against Amazon. Google believes that they are doing the search work for Amazon. After all, that is why Google will add a shopping button to search results .
However, PayPal has attracted interest from other companies to acquire, including Visa and MasterCard.
The interest may be “philosophical” at first, but it is not excluded that the first proposals will appear from July 20 , when PayPal will officially separate from eBay. The separation of PayPal and eBay was approved by the authorities and is expected to be completed by the end of the month.
PayPal, however, acquired Xoom, a company before it was spun off from eBay. Xoom, based in San Francisco, specializes in money transfers . The acquisition cost $890 million.
Xoom operates in 37 countries, mainly in India, the Philippines, Brazil and Mexico, but also other developing countries, where PayPal not particularly popular.
