Security company Malwarebytes offers all pirate users of its anti-virus software, 12 months of free protection. 
Anyone who uses an illegal activation key for Malwarebytes software will automatically receive a legitimate key with the next application upgrade that will be valid for 12 months.
The company from San Jose, California announced that it will replace the anti-virus software keys of those who use pirated ones. The so‑called “amnesty” program will replace all illegal keys, thus giving the company control of the software, in exchange for 12 months of free updates.
Why?
The CEO of the company Marcin Kleczynski, in a message on the forum, said that this move was partly because during the early days of the software distribution, the developers used a very insecure algorithm for key generation, which made the generation of pirate keys very easy.
Thus the company, together with the 12‑month offer, is developing a stronger license key generation system. The offer exists simply because there is no other way to separate legitimate users from illegal users.
