Since June 1, Microsoft has been showing notifications urging users of Windows 7 and 8 systems to pre-order Windows 10 to be prepared on July 29, when the new operating system is released.
But what if someone doesn't want to make the reservation, or removes the app that sends the notifications, because they simply don't want to play Microsoft's game? Will they lose the promo?
Microsoft says that even if you don't make the reservation, you'll still have the option to upgrade to Windows 10, as the "Get Windows 10" app on your system tray will start notifying you that the new operating system is ready.
“Once Windows 10 is available, we will begin notifying devices that their free upgrade is available. Simply open the notification to schedule your upgrade.
Note: Some notifications will come as soon as Windows 10 is available, while others may come in the weeks or months after,” Microsoft says.
So, it doesn't matter if you don't make the reservation, because you won't miss out on the free upgrade to Windows 10 if you're already on Windows 7 or 8.1.
Even if you remove the “Get Windows 10” app, you can still upgrade to Windows 10 when it becomes available using Windows Update.
Once again, Windows 10 will be released on July 29th, and the upgrade installation should start automatically that day. Otherwise, you may need to manually download the necessary files to get started.
Either way, iGuRu.gr will be here, although we believe that by the time the Final version is officially released, Windows 10 will have been leaked through unofficial channels.
