The Skype Translator application is one of the most innovative technologies made available by Microsoft as it allows Skype users who speak different languages to chat with each other using the service that automatically translates each other's words in real time.
Until now, we knew it as a standalone application for Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, but according to the developer, Skype Translator will soon be integrated into the desktop version of Skype and will allow Windows users to get in touch with friends who don't speak the same language.
Microsoft says the new feature will be added to the Skype app for Windows PCs at the end of the summer.
The Skype Translator app currently only supports four languages, English, Spanish, Italian, and Chinese. It also supports 50 languages for instant messaging, and the company promises to add more in future updates.
“Last month, we made the Skype Translator preview easier to deploy by removing the registration requirement. Since then, we’ve seen a 300% increase in Skype Translator usage!” Microsoft says on its blog.
“We are thrilled with the positive response from around the world, and especially grateful to all the early adopters who download the app and use it every day! Remember: Skype Translator uses machine learning, so the more people use the technology, the better the experience will be for everyone!”
