Last week we reported on the Sony Pictures, which the company said was done with help from insiders. But the breach appears to have had dire consequences for the company. Five new Sony Pictures movies have been leaked and are now circulating online.
The DVD Screener versions of the films “Fury”, “Annie”, “Mr. Turner”, “Still Alice” and “To Write Love on Her Arms” are making the rounds on file-sharing networks, as TNW reports, the leak is likely related to the hacking of Sony Pictures with help from insiders and a group calling itself GOP.
As of yesterday, November 30, “Fury,” the film that has not yet been released in theaters, has been downloaded more than 1.2 million times, while “Annie” has 206,000 downloads, according to piracy detection company Excipio.
A Sony spokesperson said, “The theft of Sony Pictures Entertainment content is criminally prosecuted, and we are working closely with authorities to address it.”
