A group of hackers from Indonesia managed to deface Google.
On October 5, the hackers "MadLeets" posted an image as proof of the attack on their Facebook.
The search page of Gοogle of Indonesia had turned black and contained a message from the MadLeets who said : “Security is just an illusion.”
It appears that the hackers seized the DNS servers used by Google and swapped them with those that were under their control. DNS is the system that is responsible for translating the IP address (number) from an electronic location into letters (domains).
This left many users unable to access Google's service as there was no search box. Telkom, one of the country's largest telecommunications companies, denied that hackers had breached its systems to change the DNS servers that pointed to Google.
The hackers, a little later, added a search box to the page to allow users to search for information from the Gοogle index.
Google Indonesia confirmed the attack and stated that the problem has been resolved. It appears that the hackers did not have malicious intent and all they wanted was to show what they can do.
