Google has released a new Chrome Experiment online that tracks iSee-3, a small NASA spacecraft that has been orbiting our Solar System for 36 years. The craft has now been turned into a citizen project, thanks to a crowdfunding campaign.
The iSee-3 will pass tomorrow from the Moon and to mark this, Google published a documentary video enhanced by WebGL graphics, offering an opportunity to explore the data collected by iSee-3. Google's project also gives us a live visualization of its current position. Modern Web technologies were used for its creation.
A “live lunar flyby demo” is a promise of tomorrow. See the page “A spacecraft for Everyone.” Google did not specify at what time it will pass the Moon.
