Our country will also be included in Google Maps' Street View service starting next week , thus enabling users to virtually "navigate" through panoramic photos and Greek streets.
The official announcement for the expansion of the service to Greece will be made at an event on June 5. More details are expected to be announced at this event, such as which areas have been "uploaded" to Street View.
Although the first special Google cars had made their appearance in our country in April 2009, it was actually in November 2013 that the Personal Data Protection Authority approved the posting of the 3D download service from Greece.
In its approval, the Authority states that in panoramic photos, license plates of vehicles and faces of passers-by should appear blurred. It also provides for a tool with which any user can request that data be blurred in case they are clearly visible, including the facades of houses.
