The seminar was successfully held by the Cybercrime Directorate, via teleconference in schools across the country, on the topic of security on the internet
Within the framework of the initiative of the Ministry of Public Order & Citizen Protection and the Headquarters of the Hellenic Police, a seminar was held yesterday (30-05-2014) by the Cybercrime Division, via videoconference, in schools across the country.
Approximately four hundred (400) students from the following schools attended the seminar:
- Tyros Primary School
- 14th Keratsini Primary School
- 2nd Kissamos Primary School, Chania
- 7th Palaio Falirou Primary School
- 44th Patras Primary School
- 32nd Peristeri Primary School
- Skyr Elementary School
In more detail, the Director of the Cybercrime Division, Colonel Emmanuel Sfakianakis, and specialized officers of the Service informed the students about:
- The mission of the Cybercrime Division.
- The purpose of organizing the teleconferences.
- The offenses and the way they are committed online, as well as preventive practices.
- For the phenomena of online violence, the risks that arise from social networking sites, and generally the prevention and handling of the risks associated with new technologies.
- Statistical data concerning the penetration of Greeks into the internet and the cases that the Cybercrime Prosecution Service is called upon to deal with.
Every week, specialized Cybercrime Investigation Officers conduct briefings in schools across the region, through the adoption of teleconference technology with simultaneous connections at multiple locations.
The teleconference takes place in real time and allows speeches, discussions, questions and answers with speakers and listeners at a distance.
The purpose of the workshops - teleconferences is to raise awareness among children, aged 5 to 18, and to inform them about the dangers of the internet, to learn more about ways to address the challenges of the digital world and to adapt to new data.
