Intel robot made by 3D printer

Intel, the American chipmaker, announced that it has created a robot, Jimmy, that is assembled from parts, most of which have been printed on a 3D printer. Once complete, the robot begins to talk and walk.

The white, 75cm-tall Jimmy will be available to consumers by the end of the year, costing around 1,600 euros, according to Reuters. The price of the assembly kit for the robot is expected to drop below $1,000 in a few years. The kit will also include some of the robot's mechanical parts that are not printed, as well as Intel's Edison processor, which is also not printable.

The robot can be programmed to sing, speak different languages, send messages on Twitter, serve drinks and much more. Owners of robots like Jimmy will be able to program them at will to do unique things, while they will be able to share these programs with other users, in the form of applications that can be "downloaded" via the Internet.

Intel is trying to regain lost ground in new technologies (tablets, smartphones) and, among other things, aims to create "smart" clothing, as well as to manufacture assembled and autonomous flying robots (drones), which will be aimed at hobbyists, who are crazy about making various electronic "gadgets" themselves.
