The logic is that more and more devices are connecting to the Internet. Experts estimate that by 2020 there will be 212 billion devices connected to the Internet, such as cars, industrial sensors, and household appliances. While smart devices have many advantages, they create many challenges in the areas of data protection, trust, security, and governance.

The IT security solutions provider emphasizes the fact that developers of Internet-enabled devices must focus on creating their products secure from the start.

Security must be built as the foundation of the Internet of Things”, noted Michael Fey, chief security officer of Intel Security.

“Any interruption in these connected devices could cause damage to the business and our daily life. We must have insight into what is coming so that we can prevent threats to the security and management of these devices. McAfee will enable the future and the possibilities that the Internet of Things will bring to our daily life.”

The IoT security strategy of McAfee includes solutions that operate across multiple environments and devices. Lifecycle security at the core of devices, network, and data, mechanisms that guarantee customers that their devices will not be compromised and support for industrial standards and device interoperability.

The company's strategy also includes technology to ensure privacy, and the ability to address challenges, linking heritage with new systems and future services.

McAfee is partnering with Intel and Wind River to develop solutions to protect connected devices, systems, applications and data. Recently, Intel announced Gateway Solutions for the IoT as a result of its partnership with McAfee and Wind River.
