Amazon has long been rumored to be planning a smartphone, but the company has yet to officially confirm it. However, a recent article on theinformation has revealed some additional information about the device, which is codenamed Project Aria.
As reported by theinformation, the company is reportedly working with various other companies abroad for expanded availability of the device, and that it could be released in the United States by various wireless providers' networks.
The device will be released with a platform similar to the FireOS that runs on Kindle tablets. Google services will not be present on the device, which should ensure a reduced production cost.
As SlashGear notes, Amazon plans to release the phone in China, Europe, and the United States, but not in Latin America.
