At a time when major manufacturers are integrating fingerprint readers into their smartphones, LG Electronics is choosing to introduce a different way to lock the mobile phone rich in sensitive personal information through software. All LG smartphones will be able to be locked with 2 to 8 different taps on any part of the touch screen, with the probability of the device being unlocked by a third party being 1 in 86,367 possible combinations.
This is the so-called Knock code ("knock" code) that is introduced in the way LG smartphones are used with the LG G Pro 2 - the successor to the G Pro that makes its official first appearance at Mobile World Congress 2014- and is an evolution of KnockOn that first appeared on the G2.
The ability to unlock with successive taps will be provided to all 2014 smartphones via a software update.
