The safe behavior of young people on the Internet will be at the center of the event "Youth Online Safety 2014" with the theme "Internet. Yes to use, no to abuse" organized for the fourth consecutive year by Microsoft Hellas and "The Smile of the Child".
The event will take place this year under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, on Tuesday, February 11 at 9am at the headquarters of Microsoft Greece, 221 Kifissias Ave. in Maroussi.
At this year's event, Microsoft Hellas and representatives of "The Smile of the Child" will provide useful advice for safe surfing on the internet and in particular on social networks. At the same time, there will be an extensive reference to the very important issue of internet addiction, both in games and on social networks. Finally, there will be a presentation and discussion that will refer to the sensitive and topical issue of cyberbullying. The aim of the event is to raise awareness and information regarding the protection of personal data on the internet, which is more important than ever today, due to the widespread development of social networks.
The President of the "The Smile of the Child" Organization, Costas Giannopoulos, stated in this regard: "The safe use of the internet, especially by children, concerns us all. Informing and raising public awareness act as a shield to protect children from the dangers hidden by the careless use of social networks. Addiction, harassment, abuse, bullying, and the violation of personal data are some of the main side effects of the misuse of technology. At the event co-organized by Microsoft Hellas and "The Smile of the Child", under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, we will be given the opportunity to focus on the positive aspects of the internet, to highlight the dangers that lie ahead and to share our views with students and teachers in an open discussion on the entire subject. We thank Microsoft Hellas for supporting the work of our Organization for the 4th consecutive year and standing by our efforts for a better future that every child deserves."
