One of the hardest things to do as a parent is to find the perfect name for your child. A father decided not to give the search to the internet, challenging readers of his website to vote on her name. The news is causing a stir because there is a possibility that the child will be called “Zelda” or “Not Zelda”.
Stephen McLaughlin was in a less creative moment in his life and, in his attempt to find the perfect name for his little girl, who will be baptized on April 2, he created a website and invited Internet users, via a message on Reddit, to suggest the first and middle names for his baby.
The website NameMyDaughter.com , since its launch on January 10, 2014 (domain purchase January 8, 2014), has been filled with amateur users who have volunteered to name the baby with some pretty hilarious names. According to the website, thewinning name, no matter how strange, will end up on the girl's birth certificate. Father Stephen has removed rude and frivolous suggestions, but left everything else in the contest.
The list so far for the first name includes suggestions such as Amelia, Cthulhu, Laquisha, Megatron, Ixtley, Slagathor, Zelda, Not Zelda, spaghetti, !, spiderman, etc.
For the middle name, there are some interesting suggestions, such as Iron-Man, All-Spark, Le-Dash-A (the dash A), Pond, Salad, Titanium or hero.
Of course, beyond the joke of the case and the inventiveness of the idea, we also see paid advertisements on his website (by Google and Disqus), which means that the whole scene is probably nothing more than someone's attempt to make a few extra dollars. And possibly tomorrow or the day after, he will tell us that his "daughter" for him is a cute domestic kitten that was just born.
