How to disinfect your Microsoft Surface tablet from viruses

Microsoft Surface iPad

Viruses, in addition to infecting your system internally, usually infect it externally as well. And to be more clear, germs, viruses, bacteria, dirt, and the like are present on the touch screens of your devices. Since touch screens are rapidly increasing in popularity, it is good to know that it is important to sterilize our devices from time to time.

Microsoft has decided to provide some recommendations on how to sterilize the touchscreen on a Surface tablet, especially on devices used in hospitals and clinics around the world.

Essentially, for everything there is a range of solutions that do the job for you, but make sure you use one of the ones recommended by Microsoft, so that you can be sure that you won't damage your tablet.

Here's what Microsoft 's Bill Crounse in an announcement : said today

“Healthcare professionals can disinfect their Microsoft Surface2 and Pro2 devices using one of our recommended products on their surfaces: PDI Sani-Cloth Plus, CaviWipes, Covidien Alcohol Prep Pads, or any similar wet wipes with an IPA (isopropyl alcohol) solution of less than 70%.

The same products can also be used to clean the surfaces of Surface Type Cover 2 (except for the fabric area) and Touch Cover 2. In general, users should not wet the device with a solution, but instead use the wipes or a 70% isopropyl alcohol solution on a cloth and wipe the device with the cloth. We do not recommend the use of bleach-based products.”
