A total of five subdomains of eset.es were compromised and defaced by MrD0x, a hacker from Panama. The Eset.es domain belongs to Ontinet, which is the exclusive distributor of ESET products in Spain.

The subdomains that were compromised are: promos.eset.es, tienda.eset.es, reg.eset.es, gratis.eset.es and demos.eset.es. Currently, the defaced pages have been removed from all domains and the websites appear to be functioning properly.
“On October 24, 2013, several subdomains of the Spanish company that distributes ESET products were defaced for a limited time by hackers who exploited a bug in third-party content,” ESET representatives said.
“Our distributor is currently investigating this incident, however, the affected websites were quickly brought back online.”
The phenomenon is not unknown. Very often websites that distribute antivirus software become the target of hackers who want to enhance their reputation and establish themselves on the scene. This is because in most cases the websites are not as secure as the vendor's website. So while the hacker brags about having breached ESET, in reality this never happened.
