On the Adobe Secure Software Engineering Team (ASSET), Peleus Uhley announced that Flash Player is now sandboxed in Safari on OS X Mavericks.
What does this mean for you? Of course, it’s a safer platform that will protect you from malware while you browse the web.
According to Uhley , “ Flash Player ’s permissions to read and write files are limited to only those pages it needs to function. The sandbox also limits Flash Player’s local connections to device resources and intra-process communication (IPC). Finally, the sandbox limits Flash Player ’s networking privileges to prevent unnecessary connection capabilities.”
Adobe says that the development of the new feature would not have been possible without Apple's help: "I would like to thank Apple's security team for working with us on its development."
Sandboxing is only available in Safari 7.0 in OS X Mavericks . If you're using Safari 6 or Safari 5 on an earlier version of Mac OS , you may want to upgrade to the free OS X Mavericks .
