Wikipedia officially closed over 250 editing accounts because, as it determined, they had made some suspicious changes to the website's texts.
"It appears that some users – perhaps hundreds – may have been paid to write Wikipedia articles to promote companies or products," said Wikimedia's Sue Gardner
This certainly constitutes a violation of the website's policies. “As a result, Wikipedia blocked over 250 accounts to protect its articles.”
We have previously reported on Wikipedia's suspicious activities, so today's news did not surprise us. After so many publications, Wikipedia had to react.
