Hoax Slayer has spotted a new phishing coming via email with the subject line “Security Info.”
The emails purport to come from a technical service and inform recipients that their accounts could be suspended. The emails target mobile devices.
“Our technical service has detected an error in your account, which may lead to your account being suspended. To avoid losing access to your account, you should call us now at: [Number] You will be asked to validate your card details,” the messages state.
In reality, of course, it's a phishing scam. Instead of using servers to store stolen information, scammers can collect personal and financial information directly from the phone.
If you encounter such emails, make sure to verify that the number is legitimate before calling them. If you are already a victim of this scam, you should immediately take appropriate measures to prevent them from using the information you gave them. If you gave them your bank account for example, contact your bank immediately.
