In order to enhance the security of its users and their data, Yahoo has finally announced two new features. With two different login verification options and a mobile app that will provide security codes whenever you need them, the website can finally be considered secure.
The first new feature is similar to Google 's two-factor authentication , in that with two sign-in verification options, Yahoo adds an extra layer of protection to your account. In case your account is accessed from an unknown device, Yahoo will require verification via one of your security questions or your mobile number.
Note, however, that some apps, such as the Mail apps for iOS and Android, don't yet have Yahoo's second-factor authentication service. For that reason, and perhaps until it upgrades its mobile apps, the company has made App Passwords.
The new app will give you temporary passwords. Once you enter them in an app's password field, the app and your device will be connected and you won't have to enter your password again.
For each new app or device, you'll need to create a new temporary passcode. If you ever want to revoke access to an app or device, you can easily do so from your account settings on the Yahoo.
