When choosing new telephony and Internet services, be informed about:

  • the services offered by the financial package of your choice
  • the minimum duration of the contract
  • the activation fee and the disconnection fee in the event of termination of the contract before the expiration date
  • the date of activation of the services
  • the minimum cost and minimum conversation duration on a call
  • the Internet access speed (nominal, theoretical and estimated actual speed) at the points of interest to you, e.g., home. To measure the characteristics of your Internet connection, you can use the “Broadband Connection Quality Assessment System” of EETT at https://broadbandtest.eett.gr
  • the distance between the urban center from which the service is provided and the point at which the connection operates (refers to access services via a VDSL network).

Also:

  • Keep the application, which you have signed and bears the stamp and date from the store you submitted it to. Look for and read the service agreement carefully.
  • Make sure in the next bill that your connection is working according to the landline or mobile plan you have chosen.

For uninterrupted & quality Internet connection from a fixed PC and mobile phone

  • For access via a stationary PC, ask the provider for the estimated speed at the specific operating point in order to select the appropriate package.
  • For mobile phone connection, make sure that the provider serves the operating points you are interested in and request information on the estimated access speed.

Checking mobile phone charges in fixed & mobile telephony

  • Mainly for "smart" phones (smartphones): Get detailed information about the basic features and instructions for using the device, the ability to disable automatic Internet connection, as well as the applicable charges for access and wireless data transfer applied by mobile telephony companies, in Greece and abroad.
  • Activate the “free talk time or data volume consumption notification” service. If you consume more talk time or data volume than the package you have selected, the provider may inform you by text message about the additional charges or temporarily interrupt the specific service.
  • We also recommend that you learn about how you can check your account yourself before the free time and data volume of your financial package is used up.
  • In fixed and mobile telephony, select barring if you do not use multimedia services, such as calls to five-digit numbers (e.g., 13XXXX, 15XXXX) or to other value-added services (e.g., 901XXXX). In any case, the charge from each multimedia service provider should not exceed €20 per month (+VAT) for subscription services. Charges for participation in competitions, e.g., game shows, are excluded from this service.
  • You can also request selective blocking of outgoing calls, e.g., international calls.
  • A special electronic service for checking premium rate numbers by consumers themselves is available on the EETT website (www.eett.gr).
