Scammers seem to be particularly active on Facebook in recent days. After the Miley Cyrus scam we posted this morning, another one has appeared claiming that Angelina Jolie has died.
“Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie has been dead since August 23, 2013, after her second surgery. Angelina gave a final message on camera for all her fans. Watch the original footage from Access Hollywood,” the new hoax states.
"The Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie was pronounced dead on August 23, 2013 after her second major operation. Angelina wishes to be interviewed on cam to give her inspirational message to all her FANS. Watch the Original footage from Hollywood Access"
Angelina Jolie is not dead of course, but the scammers who created the scam are hoping that someone will fall for their trap.
According to Hoax Slayer, the link contained in the message points to a website promising a Samsung Galaxy S3 and a video of Angelina Jolie's latest message.
None of this is true, there is no video, there is no Samsung, and the only winners are the scammers behind the Scam.
Instead, the scammers make some money every time someone completes the survey. What's more, some of these scams are designed to trick unsuspecting users into signing up for all sorts of paid mobile services.
