Although it appears that Microsoft is putting the finishing touches on Windows 8.1, its customers may have to wait until October to get their hands on the new version of its operating system.
Microsoft has already announced that it will ship Windows 8.1 to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) by the end of August. The company is on track to fulfill its promise, but it does not plan to make the new software available to consumers in August, according to ZDNet.
The authoritative website states that Windows 8.1 is expected to be released to the general public in October. The interim period will allow developers to test drivers and look for potential bugs.
