Bradley Manning , the man who leaked classified US documents to WikiLeaks , was sentenced to 90 years in prison today. His sentence would have been much longer but the judge agreed to merge some of the 20 charges he was found guilty of
Manning of 136 years before the trial after being found guilty of most of the charges brought against him, except for the most serious one, which alleged that his actions aided the enemies of the United States, as reported by RT.
The reduction of Manning's sentence to 90 years in prison means nothing to the court or to the US government. The message they wanted to convey was clear, indicating to future whistleblowers what their fate will be.
And while for the judge and the US government the decision means nothing, but it serves their purpose just fine, for Manning it means he will spend the rest of his life in prison.
