TransMedia CEO Donald Leka decided to publicly share his opinion on how much users care about the software on their devices today, at the presentation of their new iPhone app called Glide.
To cut a long story short, he implied that users don't care about Apple's iOS or any other software, for example, and went on to say that they don't care where their files are stored or in what format.
"Consumers really don't care that much what platform they are on, where their files are stored, or what the file types and file formats are," said TransMedia Chairman and CEO, Donald Leka. "They simply want to be able to easily access and share a family photo, a letter to a friend, a favorite song or show."
Apple, which is proud and has every reason to be about its iOS, did not leave the above statement in the air and, through its department, Worldwide Developer Relations, sent a public response to TransMedia in a very strong tone.
In its response, Apple emphasizes, among other things:
“We believe that good press releases for the launch of a new product or application should focus on that product and not contain generalities and references to other platforms and software. The tone of your position and your positioning are contrary not only to our company’s primary marketing messages, but also to the entire logic and existence of Apple. We have great passion and love for each of our products and we believe that our customers place special emphasis and importance on both our software and our services and see every dollar they spend as an investment in the best solution for their needs. We would kindly ask and recommend that you retract your statements and comply with our above positive requirements.”
