Italian authorities shut down 27 file-sharing websites

It seems that Italian authorities have been busy lately, as it was announced today that 27 websites file-sharing have stopped working after being “taken down” by ( Internet Service Providers Italian ISPs). However, authorities say not willthey stop there. They say they will  seek international cooperation to continue their work with websites not hosted by providers in Italy.

According to TorrentFreak , BitTorrent file-sharing websites have been targeted by the Public Prosecutor's Office Rome. such as: The list includes well-known domains Rapidgator, BitShare, NowVideo, Uploaded, VideoPremium, NowDownload, QueenShare and ClipsHouse.

The massive crackdown followed a systematic investigation by the Italian Police into cybercrime.

Interestingly, a lawyer from a firm specializing in Internet and copyright infringement cases, Fulvio Sarzana, revealed that the ban did not follow a request submitted by a large company as expected.

A small distributor from Italy has reportedly filed a complaint about an animated film that was leaked without permission on the internet .

It is worth noting that the largest crackdown on similar websites was carried out by the US Department of Homeland Security when 70 domains were seized in 2010.
