A new report out of China claims that Apple has contracted with Taiwanese company Chipbond Technology Corp.to manufacture fingerprint sensors in its upcoming iPhone .
The details come from a report by China Times, which claims that the so-called "iPhone 5S" will include a fingerprint sensor chip and a near-field communication (NFC) chip for mobile payments. The two are expected to work together, allowing users to easily make a transaction with their fingerprint.
Apple has reportedly begun gathering data for the upcoming iPhone 5S since the second quarter. The device is expected to be released in mid-to-late 2013.
