Samsung still believes in Windows phones

Windows phone users are used to app developers leaving the platform and when major updates are released, Android and iOS are more or less the focus for the majority of companies.

But as far as Samsung is concerned - and we can probably all agree that the South Korean company has every reason in the world to be more focused on Android than Windows Phone - app updates will be available on all platforms, including Microsoft.

Samsung still believes in Windows phones

This is why the company will release an important security update for the SmartThings home automation app, and none of the supported platforms, including Windows Phone, will be left out.

The company stated:

“The security of your home is fundamental to our mission at SmartThings. Starting September 15, 2016, the latest versions of the SmartThings Mobile App will begin using the new authentication measures to help you keep your home private and secure.”

SmartThings 2.2.0 for iOS and Android and version 1.6.2 for Windows Phone (which is not yet available) are the ones that include the security updates.

Samsung said:

“Please note that if your phone is not compatible with SmartThings, you will not be able to receive this update. As of December 6, 2016, non-compatible phones will no longer support the app and you will no longer be able to connect.”

So there you have it, this is an example where Windows Phone shouldn't necessarily be left behind in terms of new app updates available, and developers should really follow Samsung and continue to invest in the platform, despite Microsoft!
