Waterproof protection has become a pretty important feature for any smartphone released on the market, since it allows the handset to be submerged underwater and still function afterwards.
Thanks to this, a user thanks the Samsung Galaxy S7 for its life, which has this feature!
Yonhap News Agency reports that the Samsung Galaxy S7 saved the life of a man and the people around him. It seems that the owner of the smartphone survived a shipwreck in the Philippines, thanks to the waterproof capabilities of his device. Samsung received a letter from the owner, describing the incident in detail. The identity of the owner of the smartphone was not revealed, but it seems that he was on a boat bound for Sabang Beach in the central Philippines and was going spearfishing. He was accompanied by 10 other people on the trip that took place on July 30. It seems that after a storm, the boat capsized. It took about an hour before a fishing boat rescued them. Due to the Samsung Galaxy S7’s IP68 certification and, therefore, waterproof capabilities, the user was able to call the authorities and report the incident. Despite the fact that the device was submerged during the storm, the water did not affect anything. Fortunately, the phone had more than 50% of the battery in its battery, even though it had been more than 24 hours since the last time it was charged. The Samsung Galaxy S7 comes with an IP68 certification, which means that the smartphone can be submerged under 1.5 meters of water for about 30 minutes. The device is also protected from dust, dirt, and sand. Just recently, another incident was reported where a Galaxy S7 was still working after spending two hours underwater. It seems that the owner dropped the device in a lake and managed to retrieve it two hours later.
