Samsung Securities is one of the financial business units established within the Samsung Group.
It is designed to create a new system for stock trading, which will apparently use the Galaxy Note 7's iris scanner to identify the user, according to the Korea Herald. A Samsung Securities official said (we quote the statement in its entirety): “The identification through the Note 7's iris scanner, along with the public digital authentication certificate, will be available on Samsung Securities' mobile trading system.” Other South Korean stock exchanges are reportedly working on new stock trading systems that will use iris scanning technology. In addition, banks have said they will work with Samsung to provide their customers with the ability to access their bank accounts using the technology. Indeed, iris scanning technology is believed to be one of the most secure ways to identify the user, but it remains to be seen whether consumers will actually use this system to access their bank accounts and financial information.
To bring the service to a larger scale, the company will need to partner with banks located in other countries. The success of this new system will largely depend on how well customers respond to this user authentication.
