Considering its national security, the Danish PET (National Intelligence Service) has launched a campaign for people to join the «Hackers Academy», where they will be trained in offensive and defensive hacking and in online attacks.
The Danish National Intelligence Service called PET (Politiets Efterretningstjeneste) has created a project called “Hackers Academy”, which will train black hat hackers for offensive and defensive purposes. This project came about in anticipation of the hacking attacks that were launched against national security around the world.
The PET hacker academy is scheduled to start on August 1, 2016. The courses in the Hacker Academy have been divided into three modules, which will be covered over a period of four and a half months.
Here are the three modules of the Hackers Academy:
- A basic module on networking, IT infrastructure, as well as advanced security
- Next, a module dedicated to defensive hacking
- And the last one will teach participants about offensive hacking techniques
The physical location of the hacker academy is being kept secret. Also, offensive and defensive hacking training will take place in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, at an undisclosed location. Once participants finish their courses, they will be required to join PET's Computer Network Exploitation team.
Getting into the Hackers Academy of Denmark will not be that easy. RET will hire only a few hackers each year. Also, those hired hackers will have to undergo a high-quality test in the command body of the Royal Danish Navy, which includes a long series of psychological examinations.
Denmark's Hacker Academy is unique. Unlike other countries that operate shadow programs, PET is open about its plans. It has also published an official announcement on website and has even launched a media campaign with advertisements in local newspapers, at bus stations, and on billboards.
According to PET boss Lars Findsen, a participant doesn't need to be a hacker , but rather just have basic knowledge that the organization can build on. You can see PET's announcement, where the poster text says: "Do you have what it takes to become a member of a secret elite unit?"
