Symantec observed some malicious software and phishing campaigns targeting Netflix users' information!

Symantec's research observed how cybercriminals exploit Netflix's global expansion to steal users' data in order to provide the service at black market prices.
Two different attack methods were observed:
- The first is a malware campaign that aims to steal banking details from the computer where users have downloaded malicious files after being deceived by fake advertisements or ads for cheaper Netflix access.
- The second attempts to steal users' login credentials to the service through phishing campaigns that redirect users to a fake Netflix website that tricks them into providing login details, personal information, and credit card details.
Both attacks help attackers gather the information they need to gain access to the victims' Netflix accounts. But the attackers do not keep this access for themselves. There is an underground economy that targets users who want to have access to the service for free or cheaper.

The most common offers are for existing accounts. These accounts either provide one month of viewing or give full access to the premium service. In most advertisements for’ these services the seller asks the buyer not to change any information in these accounts such as the password, as it could make their use impossible. This is due to the fact that a password change will notify the user whose account has been compromised.
Symantec advises users to download the Netflix app only from official sources. Additionally, users should not take advantage of services that appear to offer the service for free or at a reduced price, as they may contain malicious files or steal data.
