Two-factor authentication on Instagram for better security!

Instagram's popularity continues to grow rapidly, and the social network has decided to install two-factor authentication on the app to help prevent security breaches!

Until now, logging into Instagram required your username and password, but TechCrunch reports that soon users will be able to choose to have a code sent to them as a second step to logging in.

With the new tool, if someone tries to log into your account with your email and password, you'll get a text message to your phone with a code. This means hackers need more than just your email and password, which they could either guess or steal from you through a phishing scam.

Enabling two-factor authentication is a long overdue move by
Instagram, which has become the go-to photo-sharing service for celebrities around the world. Last year, Taylor Swift was hacked on the service, with someone taking control of her account and uploading photos that were later deleted when her team regained control. Without two-factor authentication, all they could do was change their password.

Instagram's new security measures come shortly after the service announced that it now supports multiple accounts, another feature that users have been asking for for a long time! Users started seeing the new feature earlier this month that allows them to switch between different accounts without going through the hassle of logging in and out!

Facebook, which bought Instagram in 2012, has been offering the option of two-factor authentication since 2011. Gmail has also been offering it since the same year!
