TAILS: Functional for online and offline anonymity

There are quite a few Linux distributions out there that claim to provide security to their users, but very few actually do. The Tails operating system is, if not the best, then certainly among the best of its kind.

Tails does not have any alien technology. It is based on Debian and has been on the market for many years. Its developers, who wish to remain anonymous, aimed to provide the user with an anonymous and secure environment for working either locally or online.

This distribution goes to great lengths to provide security. In fact, if the system leaves any trace on the internet, it will be recognized as a Windows trace and not as something Linux-based.

In addition to being based on Debian, Tails also uses Tor, which is known to offer the user as much anonymity as humanly possible. As the full title of the distribution “The Amnesic Incognito Live System” suggests, Tails has everything you need for your security and anonymity.

Latest version Tails 1.2 RC1

"Tails is a system that aims to provide anonymity and privacy while browsing the internet from wherever you use it and leaves no trace unless deliberately requested. It is a complete operating system that can run from a DVD, from USB and even from an SC card, regardless of the computer's existing operating system," the developers state on the official website.

They also explain that since the new Tor Browser replaced the old Iceweasel-based one, several important applications have been added to the AppArmor profile and users are now notified that TrueCrypt has been removed and user additions in VirtualBox are enabled from the start, which means Tails will work even better in VirtualBox.

For those who want a full changelog of the new version, they can find it on the official website, but also download the new version from sofpedia.com, although it is still in the testing stage.
