Orca 3.12 Beta 1, a free, open source, flexible and extensible screen reader that provides access to graphical user interfaces via speech and Braille, is now ready for testing.
It works with applications and tools that support the Assistive Technology Service Provider Interface (AT-SPI), which is the primary assistive technology infrastructure for Linux and Solaris.
Highlights of Orca 3.12 Beta 1:
- New and uniform spell checking is now supported and has been implemented in Gedit and Thunderbird.
- Keyboard shortcuts have been fixed.
- A mysterious BrlTTY crash bug caused by Orca has been fixed.
- A logic check has been implemented as a workaround for Thunderbird termination .
