Facebook is allowing Google to link to its content from mobile – your public posts can now appear in Google search results.

Both of these online universes were mutually exclusive. That was until today. Facebook announced that it will now allow Google to include search results from the Facebook app, including any public posts, notes, and events that appear in the app.
This level of connection is unprecedented between the two online giants, and the implications are far-reaching. While Facebook claims that non-public content will not be available to the general public or to Google bots, it's worth taking a second look. Facebook has given Google access to its mobile app, and while it may be unusual to find content that you would otherwise only expect to find on Facebook, it marks a whole new level of information indexing.
Which raises another concern: How many Facebook are actually not using all of the privacy tools that help protect their personal data? Most profiles expose a huge amount of personal information, mostly because people either don’t know how to use these tools or simply don’t want to bother learning them. Either way, this story will lead to a very large amount of information being inadvertently exposed. And now not just for Facebook users, but also in the wider online universe with Google.
