The new redesigned Google+ is here.
The company unveiled a revamped version of the Google+and website that reorganizes the social network around its Communities and Collections features.
The revamped Google+emphasizes Communities and Collections, features the company introduced earlier this year. Communities are groups on the social network, while Collections allow users to group posts based on topic.
This aims, Google, to make Google+ simpler and easier to use by making the social network more focused on the interests of its users.
The Google+ website, iOS and Android apps have also been redesigned to be faster and easier to use across platforms and devices.
“We’ve drastically simplified almost every aspect of the product,” Google’s Luke Wroblewski wrote in a Google+ post. “The new Google+makes it easier to publish, search, connect, and keep up with a completely redesigned look.”
While it seems unlikely that the latest redesign will be able to breathe new life into Google, Google+ has successfully attracted groups of users interested in specific topics, so it's no surprise the choice to reorganize the service around those areas.
The updated apps will be available "in the coming days," but Google+ users can check out the new site now by selecting "let's go" after signing in to their browser. You'll also be able to revert to the old design, though it's not yet clear if that's going to change in the future.
