Are you worried about your personal information that Google shares online? A new page gives you more control over that information.
It has been accused in the past of collecting data from all users of its services. To perhaps clear its name, it has just released a new tool called “About Me.”
Its new “About Me” page displays the social networks you’re signed up for, personal information like your birthday, and a link to access your Google privacy settings. You can jump directly to each section and delete or change the information others see about you.
Google says that any changes will appear across all of the company's services you use, such as Drive, Photos, and more, as your "About Me" page acts as a hub for publicly displaying your information.
One of the most useful parts of the page is the Privacy Checkup, after making the necessary settings in this tab, you can preview the page and see how it looks to others. Another feature is to choose who will have access to your YouTube channel. By entering the “About Me” page, you can separate your photos into categories according to your favorite people depicted in them. With a simple setting, it detects the location where the photo was taken as well as the people depicted.
Another feature is that using the browser you can see the information that Google collects about you from the tabs you visit. Finally, you have the ability to manage ads. This means that you can receive updates according to your interests or you can disable one if you don't want it.
The settings in "About Me" may require a little time and effort, but the effort counts because then you will be able to know what happens to your personal information online!
