are somewhere around you smartphones .
Smartphones are declared the number one enemy of productivity , which by their very nature, with the infinite possibilities and applications they offer, act as a distraction.
Today we are extremely familiar with the image of someone "playing" with their cell phone, it is everywhere around us. But when the conversation comes to work, even the sound of the vibration or the brightness on the screen, if it is in silent mode, are enough to distract attention.
Research published in the Harvard Business Review by Florida State University clearly demonstrates all of the above. The research shows that performance and productivity in intellectual tasks decrease dramatically when employees' phones receive a notification compared to when their smartphones remain "silent."
As part of the study, the researchers asked employees to complete an exercise in which they had to press a button when any number other than 3 appeared on their screen. The process was then repeated while the researchers sent messages to identify any differences.
The results showed that when participants received a call even if they didn't answer, they made 28% more errors! When they received messages, their performance dropped by 23%.
The research showed that having the phone near employees, even if they don't interact with it, doesn't make much difference to using it.
The researchers note that the results of the study have clear implications for the workplace..
