The Windows 10 Start menu will come with live tiles like the Windows 8.1 Start screen
However, many users who will upgrade from Windows 7 want a much “cleaner” appearance and simple design, just like in the current version of their operating system.
It's already known that if you remove all the tiles from the Start menu, it becomes more like Windows 7, but in Windows 10 build 10056, the dark theme that is very likely to be released in the RTM version helps make everything look better and easier to use.
The Start menu without live tiles and with the dark theme enabled appears as a clean list of apps that lets you access installed software with just a few clicks.
Obviously, Microsoft hopes that no one will ever remove the live tiles from the menu, but that is unlikely to happen, especially since Windows 10 will be offered as a free upgrade to Windows 7 users. This means that many of the users who will move to Windows 10 from Windows 7 are naturally expected to convert the Start menu to what they are more familiar with.
At the same time, the size change options in the menu make it more suitable for all screen sizes, so regardless of your device, the “Start” menu will fit very well.
The Start menu is part of Microsoft to build Windows 10 based on customer feedback, so it is expected that the new operating system will come with the features requested by users and that it will satisfy their needs in a much more efficient way.
This is actually the purpose of the Windows Insider program, an effort that allows anyone interested to download and install Windows 10 for free, obviously with the risk that they may contain bugs.
Almost 3 million users have already installed Windows 10 for testing and the numbers are expected to increase as we approach the release date of the new operating system in the summer of 2015.
